The Bus is Back |
No Steelers fans, this is not a story of how Jerome Bettis is coming out of retirement. There's a whole new Bus rolling into Pittsburgh these days and his name is Brandon Jacobs.
I havent done a jersey change in foooooreeeveeer.
It was initially unknown if Jacobs would even play this past week against Division rival Baltimore with first place on the line, but the coaches got Jacobs ready in time and he picked up right where Willie Parker left off, as he rushed twenty four times for one hundred and twenty four yards and a touchdown and added two receptions for twenty five yards. Head Coach Mike Tomlin was very pleased "Yeah, it's always great when your running back goes over the century mark. Brandon had a very good debut and we expect him to keep this pace up over the rest of the season as we continue our playoff run." As well as Jacobs played against the Ravens, the show was stolen by wide receiver Steve Smith who simply could not be stopped as he abused Chris McAllister for five receptions and one hundred and sixty nine yards and a touchdown. The Steelers stay on the road this week as they travel to Oakland to take on the 4-5 Raiders who have found a new sense of resurgence as they have won their past three games. This is the third of five consecutive road games for the Steelers and will once again test their mettle. |

Rumor Has It |
There's a rumor floating around Pittsburgh these days, and it concerns a trade that General Manager Brad Jones very well might be pulling the trigger on. When asked for a comment Jones' office simply said "There has indeed been an offer sent to us from a prolific General Manager in the league that you all know very well. Now we are not saying if we will go through with this trade or not, but it would certainly shake things and get people talking if we do." Jones himself was not available for comment. There has been much speculation around the league today concerning not only who the Steelers might be acquiring or letting go, but WHO the mystery team is and what they offered the Steelers to create this much buzz. One would suspect that the Steelers are making a move to shake up their defense that has been, at times, sketchy this season, but with Jones....you never know.
Jones was not available for comment
We'll keep you posted as we learn more information on this breaking and developing story but right now it appears the Steelers are indeed going to go through with whatever this trade is. When we learn the details, you will learn the details, but as of right now it's all one big giant question mark. I'm Ed Werder for ESPN.

Steelers Claim Division Lead |
AP-Kansas City-The Steelers started off hot as Big Ben connected on an 89 yard touchdown strike to Steve Smith on the 2nd play of the game and then on their second drive he hit Patrick Crayton for a 79 yard touchdown pass and jumped out to an early 14-0 lead.
CANT STOP WONT STOP Big Ben from getting those TD passes
The Steelers added to the lead after the Chiefs got a field goal as Aqib Talib took the ensuing kickoff 98 yards for a touchdown. The Steelers never trailed and despite putting the offense on cruise control down the stretch the Chiefs did get within a field goal, but in the end the Steelers held on and picked up their fifth win of the season, and claimed sole position of first place in the AFC North as both the Browns and Ravens lost. While it is nice to celebrate this win the Steelers defense is still the weak spot of this team. They couldn't stop the run again as DeAngelo Williams was running at will as he went on to pick up one hundred and forty yards on the ground. Despite giving up just under one hundred yards on the ground a game teams are finding a way to chew up the yards against the Steelers.
Williams was running at will on the Steelers
If the Steelers want to be taken seriously they are going to have to figure out a solution to their defense. Right now one week the pass defense is good, and the rush defense is horrid and the following week it's vice versa. The Steelers have a big game coming up this week with the Ravens where once again first place is on the line. While the standings would be the same if the Ravens won, they would have the TB over the Steelers having already won in week two 37-14. To say this game is huge for the Steelers is an understatement. |

Steelers looking forward to next season |
| Pittsburgh, PA-- If you asked Steelers GM Brad Jones how he expected his rookie season to go I highly doubt he saw the 3-13 outcome the Steelers had. The Steelers were, for a lack of a better word, a disapointment. Injuries plagued the team and they were never able to get anything going on both sides of the ball. They did have upset wins against the Bengals and the Cowboys but despite those two wins the season was very bleak. Jones hopes that he made the correct moves last season in helping bolster his secondary acquiring safety Bob Sanders and Cornerback Marlin Jackson from the Colts. He signed arguably the best training staff this off season by use of his waiver wire. He fired offensive coordinator B. Arians and brought in Rick Neuheisel. On defense Dick LeBeau retired and Jones couldn't barter with him to stay, and instead brought in many coaches to interview for the job and in the end he hired Marty Schottenheimer. With all players fully recovered from their injuries Jones now has the makings of turning this team around and being a very good contender for the division title and a Super Bowl team. Jones irking hard in the off season getting all his re signings done and trying to work out any trades. Jones is dedicated to getting this team turned around and looking forward to this upcoming season and forgetting about this past one. |
