Seahawks Heart-Breakers |
In the last few weeks the Seattle Seahawks have had their share of ups and downs.
First, in week 1 against the San Diego Chargers, they went toe to toe with them, with the Chargers up in the 4th quarter with less then 1 minute left to go in the game the Seattle Seahawks drove from inside their own 30 to score the go ahead TD with 10 seconds left, only to watch that go away on a hail mary brought in by Andre Johnson.
Then, in week 2 they faced a team that beat them in the preseason in the Atlanta Falcons. While i didn't get to see the game when i checked out the box score i noticed it was another very close game that the Hawks won by only a TD scored in overtime.
Finally, in week 3 they faced the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, who were looking to keep from going 0-3 to start the season. The Seahawks had a 25-6 lead at half time and thats when it got ugly. the Bucs scored 22 points to the Seahawks 3 in the 3rd and 4th quarters and with 20 seconds left to go in the game the Seahawks were ready to win the game with a short FG try..... but they never got it off! they decided to let the game be played out in overtime. Seattle won the right to recieve but couldn't really get anything going and was forced to punt as the Bucs had great field position at their own 40 yard line. The Bucs drove down the field kicked the GW field goal and sent the city of Seattle into shock as they watched their Seahawks lose another game in the final seconds.
In the offseason the Seahawks had felt they had brought in the right ppl to help turn this team into a champion, with the additions of a top flight HB in Larry Johnson, 2 LBs in Dan Morgan and Mike Peterson, LG Mike Wahle and a rookie C in Brett Helms (Helms got hurt late in the game against the Bucs but did return before the end of the game). They have 5 new DBs bringing in CBs Asante Samuels, Alphonso Smith (a rookie they expect a lot from the next few years), Ken Lucas and Chris McAlister (sources have told me that they plan on playing him at FS), and rookie FS Anthony Scirrotto who they also expect a lot from in the next few years.
The Seahawks have had a lot to deal with already this season, time will tell if they can over come the curse that Rizzo has set upon them and turn these negatives into positives. |

Seahawks win but spots still up for grabs next year! |
These Seahawks are playing toward the end of the season for their jobs and they are playing well but nobody's job is safe stated GM Dupree. "They could have played like this earlier in the season and to do this now toward the end of the year is called job protection and that is not happening on this team for next year" stated Dupree. "We want to compete next year and I promise you that this team will not be in tact with these players".
QB Alex Smith played error-free ball throwing for 119 yards on 13 completions and finding the endzone 1 time in the win. Second-year player RB Tashard Choice ran really well (25-101-1). "I really felt a part of this game and the way we controlled the clock game me more confidence everytime I touched the ball" said Choice.
Surprising WR Ron Hall led the team in receptions and yards (5-5 while young WR Santonio Holmes finished the contest (3-26-1).
The defense played particularly well with veteran Deon Grant leading the team in tackles with 7. Second year player CB Josh Wilson had six tackles and a fumble recovery that led to a 90 sprint for a TD. His counterpart CB Mike Jenkins also had great game interception 2 passes while collecting 4 tackles.
The Seahawks have defeated two solid football teams in the past two weeks. The way that hte Seahawks are playing right now give hope that they can do well next week but then again, it depends if they take the secret forumla. |

Seahawks hire former USL Coach to lead team into Future |
One a secure proud franchise, the Seattle Seahawks have fallen on hard times this year. Now they turn to former USL General Manager (GM) Wayne Dupree. Coach Dupree will assume GM immediately and look to turn around a unsuspecting dismal start.
"All I can do is come in and hmm....have fun" stated GM Dupree. After leading the Rams to one of the best USL records ever (15-1), and following up with a losing campaign the following season, Dupree left to gather himself to make another charge at securing his 3rd and 4th championships in Madden coaching which was successful.
Now the GM has returned home and promises to try to restore the luster which is the Seahawks of Seattle.
"It's a challenge that I wanted to take on. I had been keeping my eye on the league for a while and when I saw this opportunity, this chance, I jumped at it." said GM Dupree. |

During the interview he was quoted as saying, "This is a team many thought would be rebuilding this season. I however believe we can take the foundation we have, add a few stars on offense, and probably create a ripple TODAY."
During the entire interview he reminded fans, staff, and players that this team is ready to take the next step, and challenge for a playoff spot this season. |
