RAIDERS BRUSH ASIDE CHIEFS IN SEASON OPENER
Oakland 48-7 KC Chiefs
The Raiders got off to an explosive start treating their fans to an offensive master class as they were quick out of the blocks on opening day. Drew Brees threw for over 400 yards and 5 scores with Chris Carter the main recipient on the day, racking up 195 yards and two of the five. The running game was steadily efficient as Bo Jackson ran for 162 yards and a score, as the new look Raiders O-line finally made some noise before tiring towards the end. The Raiders staff can’t afford to be complacent however as beneath the surface were things they will definitely need to work on. DeAngelo Williams ran for 125 yards on just 18 carries and the Raiders pass rush never got close to Croyle, although the young secondary did keep him in check till late on. The right tackle position still looks a problem area as Jeremy Zuttah gave up two more sacks albeit late in the 4th. How much longer the Oakland staff will persevere before dipping into Free agency remains to be seen. All in all Oakland can be satisfied at the steady start their team has had, whether it will silence the punditss who had Oakland struggling again this season remains to be seen. |
